Accessibility Compliance

Last Updated: June 30, 2026

Norkaya is committed to ensuring digital accessibility, inclusivity, and technical compliance across all e-commerce platforms, web applications, and customer touchpoints. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to guarantee full digital inclusion.

1. Accessibility Compliance Matrix

We evaluate our digital ecosystem across core structural standards to maintain regulatory compliance and digital equity:

Compliance Component Tier 1: Core Web Infrastructure Tier 2: Media & Interactive Elements Tier 3: Transactional Checkout Gates
Target Standard WCAG 2.1 Level AA WCAG 2.1 Level AA / AAA Strict WCAG 2.2 Coexistence
Primary Metric Structural semantic markup, landmark definitions, and sequential tab order. Closed-captioning integration, synchronized transcripts, and absolute audio descriptions. Screen-reader aria-live announcements, error mitigation, and structural session preservation.
Keyboard Navigation 100% operational without pointing devices or mouse inputs. Media controller elements completely bounded by focus indicators. Trapped-focus modal control overrides for third-party credit authentication card forms.
Contrast Ratios Minimum default ratio of 4.5:1 for standard body text. Minimum ratio of 3.0:1 for UI components and graphic frameworks. Strict 7.0:1 high-contrast text rendering across validation errors and dynamic text.
Assistive Technology NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack optimization. Alt-text requirements enforced for all product imagery and media objects. Dynamic screen-reader status announcements for asynchronous cart updates.

2. Technical Accessibility Parameters

To maintain a compliant e-commerce ecosystem, all digital properties must align with the following development benchmarks:

  • Perceivable State Mandate: Every non-text element (including product hero images, informational graphics, and iconography) must carry descriptive alt text or explicit role="presentation" markup if purely decorative.

  • Operable Interface Navigation: Users must be able to navigate the entire digital experience via keyboard inputs alone. Interactive elements must feature clear, highly visible focus indicators (e.g., custom high-contrast focus rings).

  • Understandable Information Design: Web pages must deploy predictable navigation structures. Form fields must include explicit labels, helpful instructions, and dynamic text-based error identification that explicitly specifies the field error to assistive technologies.

  • Robust Integration Standards: Content must be authored using semantic HTML5 code to maximize compatibility with current and future assistive software, screen readers, and custom operating system accessibility features.

3. Barrier Reporting & Remediation Protocol

Despite our rigorous automated testing and manual engineering reviews, accessibility gaps can occasionally emerge across dynamic web elements. We enforce a strict timeline for addressing reported accessibility friction points:

  • Reporting Gate: Users encountering accessibility blocks, unintelligible screen-reader outputs, or missing keyboard traps are encouraged to log their experiences directly using Form A below, or by emailing accessibility@norkaya.com.

  • The 48-Hour Assessment Triage: Upon receipt of an operational accessibility barrier report, our engineering and compliance teams will log the defect and assess its systemic impact within 48 hours.

  • Remediation Milestones: Critical transactional blockers (such as an unusable checkout gate or inaccessible form input) are prioritized for emergency patch deployment within 5 business days. Cosmetic or non-blocking issues will be grouped into scheduled monthly development sprints.

  • Third-Party Integrations Advisory: Our platform interacts with external integrations (including payment gateways, review engines, and social media feeds). While we mandate compliance from partners, vendor-controlled scripts may exhibit variances outside our immediate operational codebase.

4. Alternative Accommodations

If a digital asset remains temporarily inaccessible due to active maintenance or structural engineering adjustments, our customer service department provides immediate live alternatives:

  • Telephonic Checkout Assistance: Customers who encounter screen-reader friction during checkout can execute their orders entirely over the phone by dialing our accessibility service line at 1-800-534-3433. Dedicated agents will securely process items, apply discounts, and provide order confirmation details.

  • Document Reframing Services: If an invoice, warranty guide, or policy manual cannot be deciphered by a personal assistive device, contact our team to request a plain-text document, high-contrast digital layout, or a certified accessible PDF.

5. Ongoing Compliance & Auditing Framework

Digital environments are inherently dynamic. To verify that our platforms do not regress from our established compliance standards, we implement an ongoing double-layer auditing structure:

  • Automated Linting & Core Scans: Automated crawler scripts run weekly across production build paths to evaluate code compliance against WCAG rulesets, detecting unmapped landmarks, contrast drops, or missing image attributes.

  • Manual Community Audits: Twice annually, our platforms undergo comprehensive usability testing conducted by certified third-party accessibility engineers and individuals who rely exclusively on assistive technologies to complete everyday online transactions.
